Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in Wylie, Texas, you'll train under experienced Pet Stylists, mastering industry-leading grooming techniques through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. Advance to full Pet Stylist upon academy completion.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, maintain client records, and recommend wellness solutions. Uphold salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist across store departments. Prioritize pet health by identifying issues and coordinating vet transport as needed.
Experience & Skills
PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification required. Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Excel with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and composure under pressure. Proficiency in computer applications essential. Physically capable of standing, lifting 50+ lbs, and working in a pet hair-filled, moderate-noise environment with flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, reach, and lift frequently in a wet, pet-intensive setting. Specific vision for depth perception required.
