Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Zanesville, Ohio, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while delivering positive experiences for pets and their parents. Obtained after completing PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll contribute to salon operations, pet safety, and store cleanliness under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Under guidance, perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend solutions, manage appointments via phone and in-person, handle check-ins/check-outs, and promote sales to hit targets. Maintain impeccable salon hygiene, identify sick/injured pets for vet transport, and assist other departments as needed while upholding company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, attention to detail, and composure under pressure. Physical ability to stand, lift 50+ lbs, work in wet/noisy environments, and flexible scheduling for evenings/weekends/holidays required. Computer proficiency essential.
