Role Overview

The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under supervision of expert stylists, mastering best-in-class techniques for baths, brushes, nail trims, and full grooms. Uphold our vision of pet safety, salon excellence, and exceptional pet parent service in a fast-paced retail setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver supervised grooming services per PetSmart standards, including full baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care.
• Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls.
• Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane pet conditions.
• Drive sales by promoting services and merchandise to hit targets.
• Assist with sick/injured pets, store operations, and embody our culture of Belonging.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible availability (evenings/weekends/holidays), organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and depth perception.
