Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our expert styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Master industry-leading grooming techniques while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level role builds foundational skills for a rewarding career in pet care.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and maintain client records.
- Recommend wellness solutions, promote services, and drive salon sales to hit targets.
- Uphold salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Assist with sick/injured pets, work across departments, and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek passionate individuals with strong communication, organization, pet-handling skills, schedule flexibility, and ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced environment.

35,000 - 45,000 CAD / yearly

- Excellent written and verbal communication (experience)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work under pressure (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, and grooming services including nail trims and sanitary care
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and rebooking
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
