Role Overview
Our Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under expert supervision to deliver top-tier salon services. This position emphasizes pet safety, customer satisfaction, store cleanliness, and sales growth while upholding our mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and promote services/merchandise.
- Handle appointments, check-ins, check-outs, reminders, and client records.
- Maintain impeccable salon hygiene and respond to pet health issues promptly.
- Contribute to sales targets and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred (technical exam may apply), but passion for pets is key. You need PetSmart Salon Academy completion, computer skills, flexibility for varied shifts, strong communication, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs. - Excellent written and verbal communication (experience)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work under pressure (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, and grooming services including nail trims and sanitary care
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-ins, and check-outs
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
- Assist in other store departments and follow company policies
