Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under expert supervision to deliver top-tier salon services. This position emphasizes pet safety, customer satisfaction, store cleanliness, and upholding our mission, vision, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care under supervision.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and promote salon sales.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, reminders, and client records.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues.
- Assist other departments and participate in our culture of belonging.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. You need computer proficiency, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, and strong communication/organizational skills. Stay composed under pressure while prioritizing pet safety.
