Role Overview
As a Pet Trainer in our Abingdon, Maryland store, you'll engage pet parents and their pets, delivering positive training experiences aligned with PetSmart's vision. Actively promote and sell our curriculum-based classes while ensuring safety and excellence in every interaction. This role suits animal lovers with retail experience ready to flex between training, sales, and store support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional pet parent experiences via phone, in-person, or online; resolve concerns promptly.
- Actively sell training classes and educate on curriculum benefits.
- Maintain all training paperwork, schedule classes per company guidelines, and keep areas clean/safe.
- Serve as training expert for store associates, recognize sales contributions, and assist other departments.
- Handle sick/injured pets immediately, recommend merchandise, and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience.
- PetSmart Training Instructor Course accreditation.
- Computer proficiency, strong communication, and organizational skills.
- Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, holidays; composure under pressure.
Physical Demands
Stand/walk extensively, lift up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), handle pets in moderate-noise, pet-hair environment with occasional wet/mechanical exposure. Depth perception required.
