Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive training experiences, educates pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. This role demands energy, pet passion, and customer focus in a dynamic retail environment with live animals, moderate noise, and physical activity.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand/walk extensively, lift up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), climb ladders, stoop/kneel, handle pets in wet/hairy areas. Depth perception required; reasonable accommodations available.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage pet parents via phone, in-person, online for exceptional experiences and issue resolution.
- Actively sell and schedule training classes per company guidelines.
- Maintain safety/cleanliness in training areas; respond to sick/injured pets including vet transport.
- Educate associates as training expert and recognize sales contributions.
- Recommend merchandise/services; assist other departments; follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Require 1-2 years customer-facing retail, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling, organizational detail, and strong communication. Pet handling experience ideal.
