Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive training experiences, educates pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. You'll engage customers in-store, online, or by phone, ensuring safe, fun classes while upholding our vision, mission, and values. This dynamic role combines animal expertise, customer service, and retail hustle in a pet-loving environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead pet training classes, managing pet parent experiences and outcomes across channels.
- Actively sell and schedule classes while educating on curriculum benefits.
- Maintain paperwork, cleanliness, and safety in training areas; respond to sick/injured pets.
- Train store associates as subject matter expert and recommend merchandise/services.
- Assist other departments, follow policies, and foster team recognition.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, and composure under pressure. Strong communication, organization, and flexibility for evenings/weekends are essential. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and handling live animals in a moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled setting.
