Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. This role combines animal expertise, customer service, and sales in a fun, pet-filled environment. Ideal for animal lovers with retail experience seeking flexible, rewarding work.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead group and private training sessions, ensuring safety and positive outcomes for pets and owners.
- Proactively sell classes via in-store interactions, phone, and online channels.
- Maintain training areas, handle paperwork, and schedule sessions per company guidelines.
- Educate store associates as the pet training expert and respond to pet parent inquiries.
- Monitor pet health, assist with emergencies, and recommend merchandise/services.
Experience & Skills
Required Qualifications
- PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation (provided post-hire).
- 1-2 years customer-facing retail experience.
- Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, holidays.
- Strong communication, organization, and composure under pressure.
Physical Demands
Stand/walk extensively, lift 50+ lbs, handle live animals in moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled settings. Depth perception and agility required.
