Role Overview

PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our comprehensive curriculum. This role combines animal expertise, customer service, and sales in a dynamic retail environment, ensuring safe, fun learning for dogs and their owners.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct training sessions over phone, in-person, or online while prioritizing pet parent satisfaction.
• Actively promote and sell group/private classes, educating on curriculum benefits.
• Maintain accurate records, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean/safe.
• Handle emergencies like sick pets, recommend services/merchandise, and assist other departments.
• Serve as training expert, recognizing team contributions and fostering a culture of belonging.

Experience & Skills

Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, and strong communication. Must thrive under pressure, lift 50+ lbs, stand for shifts, and work flexible hours including evenings/weekends/holidays. Passion for pets and positive training methods required.

Physical Demands & Environment

Expect moderate noise, pet hair, live animals, and occasional mechanical parts. Vision for depth perception and team lifting over 100 lbs common.
