Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers expert training services, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. You'll foster safe, positive environments in-store, ensuring every interaction upholds our vision of exceptional pet care. This role demands energy, pet passion, and customer focus in a dynamic retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding pet parent experiences via phone, in-person, or online, addressing concerns promptly.
- Proactively sell and schedule training classes while educating on curriculum benefits.
- Maintain all training paperwork, cleanliness, and safety standards in class areas.
- Act as store expert, training associates and recognizing sales contributions.
- Respond to pet emergencies, recommend services/merchandise, and support other departments.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience and PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and schedule flexibility are essential. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and exposure to pets/noise.

- Handle sick/injured pets, transport to vet if needed, and recommend merchandise/services
- Educate associates as pet training expert and assist other departments as required
