Role Overview
As a Pet Trainer in Beaverton, Oregon, you'll engage pet parents and pets, delivering positive training experiences aligned with PetSmart's vision. Actively promote and sell classes, educate on curriculum benefits, and ensure safety while upholding company values. This role demands flexibility, pet passion, and customer focus in a dynamic retail environment with live animals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional pet parent experiences via phone, in-person, or online; resolve concerns promptly.
- Sell training classes across channels and educate on full curriculum benefits.
- Maintain paperwork, schedule classes per company guidelines, and keep areas clean/safe.
- Serve as training expert for store associates, recognize sales contributions.
- Respond to sick/injured pets, recommend services/merchandise, assist other departments.
- Follow policies, participate in recognition culture.
Experience & Skills
Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience.
- PetSmart Training Instructor Course accreditation.
- Proficiency in computer applications; strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication; composure under pressure; flexible scheduling.
Physical Demands
Stand/walk extensively, lift 50+ lbs (team lift 100+), handle animals in moderate noise/wet environments with pet hair. Depth perception required; reasonable accommodations available.
