Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers exceptional training experiences, educates pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. This role combines pet expertise, customer engagement, and retail operations in a dynamic store setting, ensuring safe, positive outcomes for all.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage pet parents via phone, in-person, or online to sell and deliver training classes.
- Maintain paperwork, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean and safe.
- Handle sick/injured pets promptly, recommend merchandise, and assist other departments.
- Educate associates as the pet training expert and foster a culture of recognition.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, and strong communication skills. Must handle pressure, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), and work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical demands include standing, stooping, and exposure to pets, noise, and wet environments.
