Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive training experiences, upholds company values, and drives pet parent engagement. You'll educate on training benefits, conduct classes per curriculum, and ensure safety while contributing to store success in a dynamic pet retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage pet parent interactions and outcomes across phone, in-person, and online channels, addressing concerns promptly.
- Proactively sell training classes and merchandise while promoting the full curriculum.
- Maintain accurate paperwork, schedule sessions, and keep training areas clean and safe.
- Serve as training expert for associates, recognize contributions, and assist other departments as needed.
- Respond to pet health issues, transport to vets if required, and foster a culture of safety and excellence.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience and accreditation in PetSmart's Training Instructor Course. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and schedule flexibility are essential. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs (team lift over 100 lbs), standing, stooping, and working in pet-filled environments with moderate noise.
