Role Overview

PetSmart Pet Trainers deliver positive reinforcement-based training classes, engage pet parents, and drive sales of our proven curriculum. This role demands energy, pet passion, and customer focus in a dynamic retail environment with live animals, moderate noise, and physical activity.

Essential Physical Demands

Stand/walk extensively, lift up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), climb ladders, stoop/kneel, handle pets in wet/hairy conditions. Depth perception required; reasonable accommodations available.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead pet training sessions, ensuring safety and positive outcomes for pets/parents via phone, in-person, or online.
• Actively sell classes, educate on curriculum benefits, and resolve concerns.
• Maintain paperwork, schedules, clean training areas, and store safety.
• Recognize team sales efforts, recommend merchandise, assist other departments, and follow all policies.
• Respond to sick/injured pets with immediate vet transport if needed.

Experience & Skills

• 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience.
• PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation required.
• Computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible availability (evenings/weekends/holidays).
• Exceptional communication, organization, and pet-handling skills.
