Role Overview

PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers exceptional training experiences, educates pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. This role combines animal expertise, customer engagement, and retail operations in a dynamic pet retail setting. Ensure safety, positivity, and fun for all class participants while contributing to store success.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead in-person, phone, and online training sessions with positive reinforcement methods.
• Actively promote and sell group/private classes to boost enrollment.
• Maintain accurate records, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean/safe.
• Handle pet parent inquiries, emergencies (e.g., sick pets), and recommend services/merchandise.
• Train store associates on training benefits and recognize top performers.

Experience & Skills

Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience and PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure are essential. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and handling live animals in a moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled environment. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
