Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive training experiences, educates pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. You'll engage customers in-store, online, or by phone, ensuring safe, fun classes that build pet-parent bonds. This role demands energy, pet passion, and customer focus in a dynamic retail pet environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead training sessions, managing pet parent experiences and outcomes across channels.
- Actively sell classes, recommend merchandise, and educate on curriculum benefits.
- Maintain paperwork, schedules, and a clean/safe training area.
- Handle sick/injured pets, assist other departments, and follow all policies.
- Serve as training expert, recognizing team contributions.
Experience & Skills
Requires 1-2 years customer-facing retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, strong communication, organization, and composure under pressure. Must lift 50+ lbs, stand extensively, and work flexible hours including evenings/weekends/holidays. Exposure to pets, noise, and wet areas is common; depth perception essential.
