Role Overview

PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive training experiences, educates pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. This dynamic role combines hands-on pet interaction, customer engagement, and store collaboration in a fast-paced retail environment. Ideal for animal lovers with retail experience seeking flexible, rewarding work.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead training classes, ensuring safety and positive outcomes for pets and parents.
• Actively sell classes via in-store, phone, and online channels; educate on curriculum benefits.
• Manage paperwork, scheduling, and maintain clean training areas.
• Handle pet parent concerns, emergencies (including vet transport), and recommend services/merchandise.
• Train associates as subject matter expert and assist other departments as needed.

Experience & Skills

Requires 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience and accreditation in PetSmart's Training Instructor Course. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organization, and composure under pressure are essential. Must lift 50+ lbs, stand extensively, and work evenings/weekends/holidays. Exposure to pets, noise, and wet areas common; reasonable accommodations available.
