Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. This role ensures safe, fun experiences in a dynamic retail environment, blending animal care, education, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead group and private training sessions following PetSmart standards.
- Actively promote and sell training packages in-store, online, and by phone.
- Maintain clean, safe training areas and handle all related documentation.
- Respond to pet parent inquiries, resolve concerns, and educate on program benefits.
- Serve as training expert for store team, recognizing top sellers.
- Monitor pet health, assist with emergencies, and cross-train in other departments.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-facing retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, and strong communication skills. Must thrive under pressure, stay organized, and flex for evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and handling live animals in a moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled setting.
