Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. Based in Countryside, Illinois, this role combines animal care, education, and customer service in a dynamic retail setting. Accreditation in PetSmart's Training Instructor Course is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead group and private training sessions, ensuring safety for pets and people.
- Actively promote and sell training packages in-store, online, and by phone.
- Handle pet parent inquiries, concerns, and paperwork with precision.
- Maintain clean training areas and respond to pet health emergencies.
- Collaborate with store team as pet training expert and assist other departments.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience, PetSmart training accreditation, computer proficiency, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Strong communication, organization, and composure under pressure are essential. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and handling live animals in a moderate-noise environment.
