Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. You'll be the go-to expert in your store, ensuring safe, fun experiences that build lifelong pet bonds. This role demands flexibility, pet passion, and customer focus in a dynamic retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead in-person, phone, and online training sessions while managing pet parent interactions and outcomes.
- Actively promote and sell group/private classes, educating on curriculum benefits.
- Maintain accurate records, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean/safe.
- Handle emergencies like sick pets, recommend services/merchandise, and support other departments.
- Foster team recognition and adherence to company policies.
Experience & Skills
Requires 1-2 years customer-facing retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, strong communication, and composure under pressure. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing/walking, pet handling in moderate-noise/wet environments with live animals.
