Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers exceptional training services, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. This role combines animal expertise, customer service, and sales in a dynamic retail environment, ensuring safe, fun classes that build lasting pet-parent bonds.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding pet parent experiences via phone, in-person, or online; address concerns promptly.
- Proactively sell and schedule training classes while educating on curriculum benefits.
- Maintain all training paperwork, cleanliness, and safety standards in class areas.
- Recognize associate contributions, handle pet emergencies (including vet transport), and cross-train team on training value.
- Recommend merchandise/services and assist other departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience and PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays are essential. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and exposure to pets/noise.
