Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers expert training services, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. This role demands energy, pet passion, and customer focus in a dynamic retail environment with live animals, moderate noise, and physical demands like lifting 50+ pounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional pet parent experiences via phone, in-person, or online, addressing concerns promptly.
- Proactively sell and schedule training classes while educating on curriculum benefits.
- Maintain safe, clean training areas and handle pet health emergencies, including vet transport.
- Act as training expert for store associates, recognize sales contributions, and recommend merchandise.
- Follow all policies, assist other departments, and foster a culture of belonging.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, composure under pressure, and strong communication. Physical ability to stand, lift, stoop, and work around pets is essential.
