Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Training Instructor engages pet parents and pets to deliver positive training experiences aligned with our vision, mission, values, and strategy. You'll educate on training benefits, sell classes across channels, and ensure safe, clean environments while contributing to store success.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage pet parent interactions via phone, in-person, or online, addressing concerns and driving outcomes.
- Actively promote and sell training classes while educating on curriculum benefits.
- Maintain all training paperwork, schedule classes per company guidelines, and keep areas clean/presentable.
- Serve as subject matter expert, training associates and recognizing sales contributions.
- Ensure safety for people/pets, handle sick/injured animals (including vet transport), and recommend services/merchandise.
- Assist other departments, participate in Belonging culture, and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience and accreditation from the PetSmart Training Instructor Course. Proficiency in computer apps, strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and schedule flexibility (evenings, weekends, holidays) are essential. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing/walking, and exposure to animals, noise, and wet environments.
