Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our comprehensive pet training programs. Based in Durham, NC, this role combines animal care, customer service, and education to foster lifelong pet-parent bonds.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct training sessions over phone, in-person, or online while ensuring safety for pets and people.
- Actively promote and sell training classes, educating on curriculum benefits.
- Maintain accurate paperwork, schedules, and a clean training area.
- Handle pet parent concerns, recognize team contributions, and assist with sick/injured pets.
- Collaborate across departments, recommend merchandise, and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience and PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and flexibility for evenings/weekends are essential. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, and exposure to pets/noise.
