Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and upholds our vision of exceptional pet care. Based in Durham, NC, this role combines hands-on animal interaction, customer education, and sales to drive training program success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead training sessions over phone, in-person, or online, ensuring positive pet parent experiences.
- Actively promote and sell training classes while educating on curriculum benefits.
- Maintain accurate paperwork, schedules, and a clean, safe training environment.
- Handle sick/injured pets promptly, including vet transport if needed.
- Collaborate across departments, recommend merchandise, and recognize team contributions.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience and PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure are essential. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, and exposure to pets/noise.
