Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers exceptional training services, engages pet parents, and drives sales while upholding our vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role involves hands-on pet interaction, customer education, and maintaining a safe, clean training environment in a dynamic retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding pet parent experiences via phone, in-person, or online; address concerns promptly.
- Actively promote and sell training classes across channels; educate on full curriculum benefits.
- Manage scheduling, paperwork, and facility maintenance; ensure safety for people and pets.
- Identify and respond to sick/injured pets, including vet transport; recommend products/services.
- Train associates as subject matter expert, recognize sales efforts, and support other departments.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience and accreditation in PetSmart's Training Instructor Course. Proficiency in computer apps, strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and schedule flexibility are essential. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs (team lift over 100 lbs), standing, stooping, and exposure to pets, noise, and wet environments.
