Role Overview
As a Pet Trainer at our East Hanover store, you'll engage pet parents and pets, delivering positive reinforcement training per PetSmart's proven curriculum. Accredited instructors like you drive sales, ensure safety, and foster joyful experiences in a dynamic retail environment with live animals and high-energy interactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct training classes, manage pet parent interactions via phone, in-person, or online.
- Actively sell classes and educate on curriculum benefits; handle concerns professionally.
- Maintain records, schedule sessions, keep areas clean/safe; respond to pet emergencies.
- Train store associates on pet training value; recommend merchandise/services.
- Flex between departments, follow policies, and participate in recognition culture.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, and composure under pressure. Strong communication, organization, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, handling pets in moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled settings.
