Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive training experiences, educates pet parents, and upholds our vision of exceptional pet care. You'll engage customers in-store, online, or by phone, sell classes, and ensure safe, clean training spaces. This role suits animal lovers with retail experience ready to thrive in a dynamic pet retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct training classes following PetSmart curriculum, prioritizing pet parent satisfaction and outcomes.
- Actively promote and sell training programs across channels while addressing concerns.
- Maintain all training documentation, schedules, and store areas for safety and presentation.
- Serve as training expert, educating associates and recognizing sales contributions.
- Handle pet welfare issues promptly, recommend services/merchandise, and assist other departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience.
- PetSmart Training Instructor Course accreditation.
- Computer proficiency, strong communication, and organizational skills.
- Flexibility for evenings, weekends, holidays; composure under pressure.
Physical Demands
Stand/walk extensively, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), handle pets in moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled environments with occasional wet areas or mechanical exposure. Depth perception required; accommodations available.
