Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers exceptional training experiences, educates pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. This role demands energy, pet passion, and customer focus in a dynamic retail environment with live animals, moderate noise, and physical demands like lifting 50+ lbs.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand, walk, climb ladders, stoop, kneel; lift up to 50 lbs frequently, team lift 100+ lbs; exposed to pet hair, wet areas, and animal handling.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage pet parents via phone, in-person, or online to ensure positive training outcomes.
- Actively sell and schedule classes while promoting curriculum benefits.
- Maintain paperwork, clean training areas, and ensure safety.
- Handle sick/injured pets, recommend merchandise, and assist other departments.
- Educate associates as training expert and participate in company culture.
Experience & Skills
Require 1-2 years customer-focused retail, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling, and strong communication/organization. Passion for pets is key.
