Role Overview

PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive training experiences, educates pet parents, and upholds our vision of exceptional pet care. Based in Garfield, New Jersey, you'll engage customers in-store, online, or by phone, sell classes, and ensure safe, clean environments. This role suits animal lovers with retail experience ready to make an impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide pet training services following PetSmart curriculum and manage pet parent interactions.
• Actively sell and schedule training classes across channels.
• Maintain paperwork, training areas, and safety protocols; respond to sick/injured pets.
• Educate associates as training expert and recommend merchandise/services.
• Assist other departments, follow policies, and foster a positive store culture.

Experience & Skills

Required Qualifications

• 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience.
• PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation.
• Computer proficiency, strong communication, and organizational skills.
• Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, holidays.

Physical Demands

Stand/walk extensively, lift up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), handle pets in moderate-noise, pet-hair-filled environments with occasional wet/mechanical exposures. Depth perception required.
