Role Overview

PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive training experiences using our proven curriculum. Based in Glen Allen, Virginia, you'll engage pet parents, sell classes, and ensure safe, fun sessions for dogs and their owners. This role combines education, sales, and pet care in a dynamic retail setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead group and private training classes, managing pet parent interactions via phone, in-person, or online.
• Actively promote and sell training programs while educating on curriculum benefits.
• Maintain accurate records, schedules, and a clean, safe training area.
• Handle emergencies like sick pets, collaborate with store teams, and recommend merchandise.
• Champion pet training as the store expert and participate in recognition culture.

Experience & Skills

Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience and PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure are essential. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for shifts, and working with live animals in a moderate-noise environment. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
