Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive training experiences, upholds company values, and drives pet parent engagement. You'll educate on training benefits, conduct classes per curriculum, and ensure safety in a fun, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is key in this dynamic retail role.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage pet parents via phone, in-person, or online; resolve concerns and sell classes.
- Educate on full training curriculum and recommend merchandise/services.
- Maintain paperwork, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean/safe.
- Handle sick/injured pets, transport to vet if needed, and assist other departments.
- Train associates as subject matter expert and recognize sales contributions.
Experience & Skills
Require 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience and PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organization, and composure under pressure essential. Physical demands include lifting 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), standing, bending, and exposure to pets, noise, and wet areas. Depth perception required.
