Role Overview
As a Pet Trainer at our Hanover store, you'll be the go-to expert for pet training, engaging pet parents and their furry companions to deliver positive, transformative experiences. Accredited through PetSmart's Training Instructor Course, you'll uphold our vision by educating on training benefits and executing classes with safety and enthusiasm. This dynamic role combines hands-on pet interaction, sales, and customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead pet training sessions over phone, in-person, or online, ensuring outstanding pet parent experiences.
- Proactively sell classes and educate on curriculum benefits to drive enrollment.
- Maintain all training paperwork, schedules, and store areas for cleanliness and safety.
- Handle emergencies like sick/injured pets, including vet transport if needed.
- Collaborate across departments, recommend merchandise, and recognize team contributions.
Essential Physical Demands
Expect to stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift over 100 lbs), and work in a pet-filled environment with moderate noise and occasional wet/hairy conditions.
Experience & Skills
We're seeking candidates with 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, and strong communication skills. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential, along with composure under pressure and keen attention to detail.
