Role Overview

As a Pet Trainer in our Hickory, NC store, you'll engage pet parents and their furry companions, delivering positive training experiences aligned with PetSmart's proven curriculum. This role combines education, sales, and hands-on pet care in a dynamic retail environment, ensuring safe, fun classes that build lasting customer loyalty.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead pet training sessions over phone, in-person, or online, prioritizing pet parent satisfaction and outcomes.
• Actively promote and sell training classes while educating on curriculum benefits.
• Maintain all training paperwork, schedules, and store areas for cleanliness and safety.
• Handle sick/injured pets promptly, including vet transport if needed, and recommend merchandise/services.
• Collaborate across departments, recognize team contributions, and uphold company policies.

Experience & Skills

Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience and PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure are essential. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is required. Physically, expect standing, lifting up to 50lbs (team lifts over 100lbs), and exposure to pets, noise, and wet environments.
