Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. This role ensures safe, fun experiences in a dynamic retail environment, acting as the store's pet training expert while supporting overall store operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead group and private training sessions, managing pet parent interactions via phone, in-person, or online.
- Actively promote and sell training packages, educating on curriculum benefits.
- Maintain accurate records, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean/safe.
- Handle emergencies like sick pets, recommend merchandise, and assist other departments.
- Foster a culture of belonging, recognition, and policy adherence.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience and PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and schedule flexibility are essential. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and exposure to pets/noise.
