Role Overview
PetSmart Pet Trainers deliver positive reinforcement-based training classes, engage pet parents, and drive sales of our proven curriculum. This dynamic role combines hands-on pet interaction, customer education, and store leadership to ensure safe, fun experiences in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead group and private training sessions while prioritizing pet parent satisfaction and outcomes via phone, in-person, or online.
- Actively promote and sell training packages, educating on curriculum benefits.
- Maintain accurate records, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean and safe.
- Serve as pet training expert for store team, recognizing sales contributions.
- Handle emergencies like sick/injured pets, recommend merchandise, and assist other departments.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience and PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and schedule flexibility are essential. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and exposure to pets/noise.
