Role Overview
PetSmart Pet Trainers deliver positive reinforcement-based training classes, engage pet parents, and drive sales of our proven curriculum. This entry-level role requires PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation and suits animal lovers with retail experience who thrive in dynamic pet retail environments.
Essential Physical Demands
Expect to stand, walk, lift up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), handle pets, and work in moderate-noise settings with live animals, pet hair, and occasional wet areas. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is key.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead pet training sessions, ensuring safety and positive outcomes for pets and parents.
- Actively sell classes via in-store, phone, and online channels; educate on curriculum benefits.
- Handle pet parent interactions, concerns, and paperwork; schedule per company guidelines.
- Maintain clean training areas; respond to sick/injured pets, including vet transport if needed.
- Train store associates on training programs; recommend merchandise and assist other departments.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience, PetSmart accreditation, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, and excellent communication. Passion for pets, organizational skills, and sales acumen set you apart.
