Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers exceptional training experiences, educates pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. This role demands energy, pet passion, and customer focus in a dynamic retail environment with live animals, moderate noise, and physical activity including lifting up to 50lbs.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand, walk, climb ladders, stoop, kneel; lift 50lbs frequently, team lift 100lbs+; exposed to pet hair, wet areas, mechanical parts, and high noise at times. Depth perception required; reasonable accommodations available.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage pet parents via phone, in-person, online to ensure positive experiences and resolve concerns.
- Actively sell and schedule training classes per company guidelines.
- Maintain all training paperwork and keep areas clean/safe.
- Educate store associates as pet training expert and recognize sales contributions.
- Handle sick/injured pets immediately, including vet transport if needed.
- Recommend merchandise/services and assist other departments.
- Uphold company policies, safety, and culture of belonging.
Experience & Skills
Seeking candidates with 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility, organizational skills, and strong communication. Pet lovers thrive here!
