Role Overview
PetSmart Pet Trainers deliver positive reinforcement-based training classes, engage pet parents, and drive sales of our proven curriculum. This role demands energy, pet passion, and customer focus in a dynamic retail environment with live animals, moderate noise, and physical activity including lifting up to 50lbs.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, lift 50lbs frequently; team lift 100lbs; exposed to pet hair, wet areas, and animal handling.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct training sessions ensuring safety and positive outcomes for pets and parents.
- Actively sell classes via in-store, phone, online channels; educate on curriculum benefits.
- Maintain paperwork, schedule classes, keep training areas clean.
- Handle pet parent concerns, recommend merchandise, assist other departments.
- Respond to sick/injured pets, recognize team sales efforts, follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
- 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience.
- PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation required.
- Strong communication, organization, composure under pressure.
- Computer proficiency; flexible availability for evenings, weekends, holidays.
