Role Overview
As a Pet Trainer in Lockport, New York, you'll engage pet parents and their furry friends, delivering positive reinforcement training per PetSmart's proven curriculum. Actively promote classes, ensure safety, and drive sales to foster lifelong pet-parent bonds. This dynamic role suits animal lovers with retail experience ready for flexible hours and hands-on pet interaction.
Key Responsibilities
Training & Customer Engagement
- Conduct classes, educate on curriculum benefits, and resolve pet parent concerns via phone, in-person, or online.
- Actively sell training packages and recommend merchandise/services.
Operations & Safety
- Maintain clean, safe training areas; handle sick/injured pets promptly.
- Manage scheduling, paperwork, and train store associates as SME.
- Recognize team contributions and assist other departments as needed.
Follow all policies, participate in recognition culture, and lift up to 50lbs frequently.
Experience & Skills
Require 1-2 years customer-focused retail, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, strong communication, and composure under pressure. Physical demands include standing, lifting 50lbs+, pet hair exposure, and moderate noise. Flexible for evenings, weekends, holidays.
