Role Overview

PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our comprehensive pet training curriculum. This role combines animal expertise, customer service, and sales in a dynamic retail setting, ensuring safe, fun experiences for pets and people alike.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct training sessions over phone, in-person, or online while managing pet parent expectations and outcomes.
• Actively promote and sell training classes, educating on curriculum benefits.
• Maintain accurate paperwork, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean and safe.
• Serve as store expert on pet training, recognizing associate contributions.
• Handle emergencies like sick/injured pets, recommend merchandise, and assist other departments.

Experience & Skills

Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience and accreditation from the PetSmart Training Instructor Course. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and schedule flexibility are essential. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, and exposure to pets, noise, and wet environments.
