Role Overview

PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive reinforcement-based training classes, engages pet parents, and upholds our vision of exceptional pet care. This role combines hands-on animal interaction, customer education, sales, and store support in a dynamic retail setting. Accredited instructors follow our proven curriculum to build pet confidence and strengthen bonds.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead group and private training sessions, ensuring safe, fun environments.
• Actively promote and sell training packages via in-store demos, phone, and online.
• Respond to pet parent inquiries, manage outcomes, and maintain all training records.
• Educate store associates as the pet training expert and recognize top sellers.
• Handle sick/injured pets, recommend merchandise, and assist other departments as needed.

Experience & Skills

Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years of customer-focused retail experience and PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure are essential. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and exposure to pets, noise, and wet areas. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
