Role Overview
PetSmart Pet Trainers deliver positive reinforcement-based training using our proven curriculum. You'll engage pet parents, sell classes, ensure safety, and act as the store's training expert. This dynamic role combines education, sales, and hands-on pet care in a fast-paced retail environment.
Essential Physical Demands
Expect to stand, walk, lift up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), climb ladders, stoop, kneel, and handle live animals amid moderate noise, pet hair, and occasional wet conditions. Depth perception required; accommodations available.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional pet parent experiences via phone, in-person, or online; resolve concerns promptly.
- Actively sell and schedule training classes per company guidelines.
- Maintain all training paperwork and keep areas clean/safe.
- Educate associates as subject matter expert and recognize sales contributions.
- Handle sick/injured pets, recommend services/merchandise, and assist other departments.
- Follow policies, participate in Belonging & Recognition culture.
Experience & Skills
Seeking candidates with 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility, and strong communication/organizational skills. Passion for pets essential.
