Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers exceptional training services, engages pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. This role demands energy, pet expertise, and customer focus in a dynamic retail environment with live animals, moderate noise, and physical demands like lifting up to 50lbs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding pet parent experiences via phone, in-person, or online; address concerns promptly.
- Sell training classes proactively and educate on full curriculum benefits.
- Maintain records, schedule sessions, ensure safety/cleanliness in training areas.
- Recognize associate contributions, handle pet emergencies, recommend products/services.
- Collaborate across departments and embody our Belonging culture.
Experience & Skills
Ideal candidates bring 1-2 years customer-facing retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, composure under pressure, and strong communication/organizational skills. Physical ability to stand, lift 50lbs+, handle pets, and navigate ladders/wet areas required.

Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging pet training classes per PetSmart curriculum and ensure positive pet parent experiences
- Actively sell training classes in-store, phone, and online while educating on benefits
- Maintain paperwork, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean and safe
- Handle sick/injured pets, recommend merchandise/services, and assist other departments
- Act as pet training expert for store associates and participate in company culture initiatives
