Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers exceptional training experiences, educates pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. This role demands energy, pet passion, and customer focus in a dynamic retail environment with live animals, moderate noise, and physical demands like lifting 50+ lbs.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand, walk, climb ladders, stoop, kneel; lift up to 50 lbs frequently, team lift 100+ lbs; exposed to pet hair, wet areas, mechanical parts, and high noise at times. Depth perception required; reasonable accommodations available.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage pet parents via phone, in-person, or online to ensure positive experiences and resolve concerns.
- Actively sell and schedule training classes while educating on curriculum benefits.
- Maintain all training paperwork, cleanliness, and safety in class areas.
- Serve as pet training expert, training associates and recognizing sales contributions.
- Handle sick/injured pets, recommend merchandise/services, assist other departments, and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Seeking candidates with 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, schedule flexibility, organizational skills, and strong communication. Passion for pets is essential.
