Role Overview
PetSmart Pet Trainers deliver positive reinforcement-based training using our proven curriculum. You'll engage pet parents, sell classes, ensure safety, and foster a welcoming store environment. This dynamic role combines animal care, education, customer service, and sales in a fun, pet-filled setting.
Essential Physical Demands
Expect to stand, walk, lift up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), climb ladders, stoop, kneel, and handle live animals in a moderate-noise environment with pet hair and occasional wet areas. Depth perception required; reasonable accommodations available.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional pet parent experiences via phone, in-person, or online; resolve concerns promptly.
- Actively sell and schedule training classes while educating on curriculum benefits.
- Maintain all training paperwork and keep areas clean/safe.
- Serve as training expert for store associates and recognize sales contributions.
- Handle sick/injured pets, recommend merchandise, assist other departments, and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Seeking candidates with 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, scheduling flexibility, organizational skills, and strong communication. Passion for pets and positive training methods essential.
