Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive training experiences using our proven curriculum. You'll engage pet parents, sell classes, ensure safety, and contribute to store success. This dynamic role combines animal care, education, customer service, and sales in a fun, pet-filled environment. Full-time position with flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), handle pets in moderate noise/wet areas with pet hair exposure. Depth perception required; reasonable accommodations available.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead training sessions, manage pet parent interactions via phone, in-person, or online.
- Actively promote and sell training programs while educating on benefits.
- Maintain records, schedule classes, and keep training areas clean/safe.
- Recognize team contributions, assist other departments, and follow policies.
- Respond to sick/injured pets, recommend services, and foster a culture of belonging.
Experience & Skills
Seeking candidates with 1-2 years retail experience, PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation, computer proficiency, strong communication, and composure under pressure. Passion for pets, organizational skills, and flexibility essential. No prior pet training experience required beyond certification.
