Role Overview
PetSmart's Pet Trainer delivers positive training experiences, educates pet parents, and drives sales of our proven curriculum. This role demands energy, pet passion, and customer focus in a dynamic retail environment with live animals, moderate noise, and physical demands like lifting 50+ lbs.
Essential Physical Demands
Stand, walk, climb, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), handle pets in wet/hairy areas with depth perception required. Flexible for evenings, weekends, holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage pet parents via phone, in-person, online; resolve concerns and sell classes.
- Educate on full training curriculum benefits; act as store SME.
- Maintain paperwork, schedule classes, ensure safety/cleanliness.
- Recognize associates, assist other departments, follow policies.
- Handle sick/injured pets, recommend products/services.
Experience & Skills
- 1-2 years customer-focused retail experience.
- PetSmart Training Instructor accreditation.
- Computer proficiency, composure under pressure, strong communication/organization.
